2013 Candy Industry Kettle Award Nominees Announced February 20th, 2013

There were four nominees for this year’s Candy Industry Kettle Award, selected by the magazine’s Kettle Committee. Patrick Huffman, president and COO of the Warrell Corp., is a retail owner of Pennsylvania Dutch Candies and a nominee.

Two of Pennsylvania Dutch’s treats, Honey Nut Crisps and Honey Toasted Cashews, are part of the line nominated for the award meant “as recognition of the contribution for ‘great or good’ of the industry, not only on the part of the person selected for the distinction, but of every member of the confectionery field who has devoted himself in whatever measure to make the business of candy making and selling a more profitable and happier one.”

Candy Industry readers and confectionery industry professionals can vote for their favorite nominee by vising the Kettle Awards Web site or by mailing or faxing the ballot in December’s issue of Candy Industry.

Other nominees include Bill and Jeff Birnn, co-owners of Birnn Chocolates of Vermont, Inc.; Joseph Zanetos, president and owner of Anthony-Thomas Candy Co.; and Greg McCormack, president of Kencraft Candy Co.

The 2013 Kettle Awards reception will be held in May during the Sweets & Snacks Expo in Chicago.
