Candy Tops Valentine’s Day Purchasers’ Picks
Friday, February 7th, 2014

Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, and flower petals decide if he loves you or loves you not, but candy is the go-to gift for Valentine’s Day 2014.

A recent National Confectioners’ Association (NCA) survey reports that by a vote of two to one, Americans would rather receive chocolate than flowers on Valentine’s Day. A surprising 83% of men surveyed said chocolate was their preference. Fifty-nine percent of women polled favored candy.

The NCA says that more than $1 billion will be spent on candy on this year’s day of love, up almost 2% from 2013. Almost three-quarters of the candy sold will be chocolate, with caramel being a hugely popular flavor. Chocolate-covered nuts, cream-filled and chocolate-filled confections also topped the popularity list.

If honey tops your list of candy-infused items, there are plenty of options to choose from to give to your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day.

Compartes Chocolatier’s confections come in a box of candy dipped in dark chocolate and infused with wild organic honey and peanut butter. The chocolates are a perfect pairing of sweet and nutty.

Moonstruck Chocolate Honey Vanilla Caramel Truffles stay on the caramel trend, made with soft caramel that is slow cooked in an open kettle. Sold in boxes of 20, they then are flavored with hints of honey and pure Madagascar vanilla. Once cooked, the truffles are enrobed in milk chocolate and decorated with dark chocolate stripes.

French Broad Chocolates’ line of Honey Caramel candies are made with wildflower honey, grey sea salt, grass-fed cream and butter. The line includes Dark Chocolate Salted Honey Caramel, Cashew Honey Caramel and Lavender Honey Caramel varieties.

B&B Honey Filled Hard Candy
Monday, February 3rd, 2014

B&B Honey Farm introduces its delicious, old-fashioned hard candy with honey filled centers.

The individually wrapped pieces come in varieties such as honey apple, lemon, orange, strawberry and double honey. Candies are sold in 8-oz. bags, one-pound bags or by the case.

B&B Honey Farm was founded in 1975 in Houston, Minn. by Bill and Robin Bernacchi with the purpose of serving beekeepers within a 200-mile radius. The business quickly expanded, and in 1980 moved out of a barn, shed and garage into a warehouse and showroom. In 1997 B&B Honey Incorporated was formed and entered into the “bee feed” market.
