The world’s leading candy and cookie manufacturers descended on the Windy City recently to showcase their latest new products and highlight the trends that will drive the marketplace in the future. And not surprisingly, honey was spotlighted by exhibitors and trendsetters as an integral ingredient to the industry’s growth.
Glory Bee Foods, Eugene, Oregon, displayed a line of innovative products, including HoneyStix, an individually-packaged snack product made with 100% pure honey, natural extracts and essential oils. Each HoneyStix contains exactly one teaspoon of honey, and comes in 22 flavors, including:
- Fruit Flavored HoneyStix: Blackberry, Mango, Peach, Sour Apple, Sour Cherry, Sour Grape, Sour Raspberry, Sour Strawberry, Watermelon
- Essential Oil Infused HoneyStix: Cinnamon, Mint, Lemon, Licorice, Lime, Orange and Ginger
- Gourmet HoneyStix: Caramel, Clover, Orange Blossom, Pink Lemonade, Root Beer, Amaretto, Wildflower and Vanilla
Gimbal’s Fine Candies, San Francisco, California, showcased their line of Honey Lovers jelly beans, which are made with honey and come in 16 flavors, including Pomegranate Honey, Honey Dipped Strawberry and Black Cherry Honey. This product also was featured in the New Product Trends session, with Michele Bowman, founder of AndSpace Consulting, spotlighting the products during her presentation.
Jelly Belly Candy Company, Fairfield, California, highlighted their newest innovative flavor, Honey Bean, which uses infused wildflower honey to impart an exceptional flavor. In a recent poll of 11,000 Jelly Belly fans, Honey Bean was named the company’s most preferred flavor.
