General Mills announced plans to launch more than 50 new products in the snack, protein-rich breakfast and globally-inspired convenience meal categories.

Aiming to provide consumers with “quality, taste, health, convenience and value,” General Mills has developed snacking products infused with flavor, including honey.

“Consumers have unwavering high standards for food,” said Peter Erickson, General Mills senior vice president of Innovation, Technology and Quality, “They want more. More flavor, more fun, more nutrition.”

Organic Cascadian Farm’s Protein Chewy Bars and Nature Valley Breakfast Biscuits are two of the company’s new products that contain honey.

Organic Cascadian Farm Protein Chewy Bars come in Honey Roasted Nut and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip flavors, with each bar containing 9 grams of protein.

Nature Valley Breakfast Biscuits, available in honey and blueberry varieties, offer 26 grams of whole grain, 5 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber per serving.

Other new snacking additions expand on General Mills’ product lines that already feature honey. Graham Crunch, a new product from Cascadian Farm, broadens the cereal line that includes Honey Nut O’s, which contains whole-grain oats flavored with sweet honey and almonds.

Nature Valley’s Protein Crunch Granola started offering a Cranberry Almond variety to complement the Oats n’ Honey and Oats n’ Dark Chocolate flavors. The Oats n’ Honey version has whole grain oats and 10 grams of protein per serving.

These new products aim to capitalize on the consumer trend of better-for-you foods with all-natural ingredients. This trend also is prominent in beverages and candy markets, as customers want food with functional benefits.
