Whole Grain Consumption Soars Monday, September 28th, 2015

Whole Grain Consumption Soars

The Whole Grains Council recently released the results of an online survey of 1,510 U.S. adults.

The survey found that 64% of Americans have increased whole grain consumption “some” or “a lot” in the past five years. Around 31% said that they almost always choose whole grains, and 32% said they choose whole grains half the time.

These numbers have increased a lot in five years. Nearly 86% of those who consume whole grains do so for health benefits, the survey said.

“For years, most people came nowhere close to whole grain recommendations, so it is encouraging to see that many are now benefiting from switching more of the grains they eat to whole grains,” said Cynthia Harriman, director of food and nutrition strategies, Oldways Whole Grains Council.

These Made With Honey products have the Whole Grains Council’s stamp of approval.

What Happened to Breakfast Being the Most Important Meal?

More than 21% of the 10,000 U.S. consumers polled by Instantly said that they will skip breakfast when strapped for time in the mornings, and 43% said they will grab something on the go.

“In the U.S., with longer work days that break out of the 9-5 model, timing and convenience has become a deciding factor in what many Americans eat in the morning,” said Andy Jolls, chief marketing officer at Instantly. “But that doesn’t mean demand for breakfast foods is low. If companies can provide breakfast in a format that accommodates busy schedules while appealing to taste and nutrition, they could see significant incremental growth.”

Check out these Made With Honey products that cater to the breakfast convenience trend.
