When John & George Kashou started a small retail bakery in 1979, they never imagined that one day, Kangaroo Brands, Inc. would supply more supermarkets than any other brand of pita pocket bread in the United States. Honey plays a significant role in this success, and the National Honey Board was delighted when Salem Kashou, Marketing Manager for Kangaroo Brands, agreed to tell us more about the company.
What sparked the launch of Kangaroo Brands?
The company was started over 30 years ago by two brothers, John and George Kashou, who wanted a better pita bread.

It helps keep the product moist, delivers better cell structure and is a nice alternative to other sweeteners.

They love it. It sells quite well.

The taste is great. It's subtle and sweet and most importantly naturally delicious.
What has been the biggest milestone, thus far, for Kangaroo Brands?
One important milestone is celebrating our 30th anniversary. Also, other milestones include our patent for pre-opened pita pockets and successfully launching Pita Chips to consumers.
